The upcoming 2024 Honda Passport will receive a few minor upgrades. This modern mid-size SUV will hit the roads at some point in the second half of 2023. On top of that, we expect to see minor or mild updates at best. Five people can fit in two rows of seats, and Passport offers a good level of comfort. It offers a reliable V6 engine, four trim options, and a cozy interior.
This nameplate is available for almost three decades, which is quite impressive. The current generation has been introduced four years ago. Therefore, the new-gen Passport is not so far away. Still, the next version will receive a couple of mild updates. The Passport SUV slots between the smaller Honda CR-V and the bigger Honda Pilot.
Honda Passport Specs, Transmission, AWD
The 3.5-liter V6 gas engine, which powers the 2024 Honda Passport, still going strong in terms of performance. This engine can generate up to 26 lb-ft of torque and 280 horsepower. Its replacement is imminent because it is indeed old output. However, a new engine choice won’t be available for the 2024 Passport. Additionally, the same 9-speed automatic transmission is still in place. The ride quality is good, and the transmission shifts smoothly and quietly.
Unofficially, Honda will provide a standard AWD system to all trim levels. 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway are average for the mid-size SUV segment. The maximum towing capacity is rated at around 5,000 pounds. Again, a new engine is in the works, but it will be available in the 2025MY.
Interior Refresh
The next 2024 Honda Passport could get one big cabin update. For a start, the interior layout won’t change at all, and it will offer a two-row five-seat setup. Since the architecture is the same, the vehicle’s dimensions and its cabin space are intact. In addition to new technology and one entirely new color scheme, Honda wants to use more expensive materials. But don’t anticipate a significant update just yet.
The entry-level model level is still equipped with a standard 8-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Upper trim levels come with leather seats, a sunroof, Wi-Fi, and ambient lighting. A new infotainment system will be on offer, and Honda should deliver additional driver-assistance aids as an option.
Exterior Changes
In terms of exterior design, the new 2024 Honda Passport will continue with a boxy appearance and modern styling. However, a facelift will be quite minor. Therefore, Honda plans to deliver small cosmetic upgrades, including new exterior colors. On top of that, the front fascia will suffer minor modifications, such as a slightly wider grille.
The Black Edition will be on offer, along with the TrailSport trim level. Thanks to that, you can choose between the base design, or opt for a more elegant or sportier appearance. As we mentioned, the current present platform remains, so Passport SUV will remain a mid-size model.
2024 Honda Passport Release Date and Price
The forthcoming 2024 Honda Passport will cost around $44,000. Therefore, the price will remain intact. However, the next-gen model is not so far away, as we expect the new-gen Passport to arrive in late 2024. As for the 2024MY, Honda will release it this summer.
