Interestingly, there are some rumors and speculations about the next generation of the 2024 Dodge Durango. Unfortunately, the fate of this SUV is not so good. It seems that the 2024-year model will be the last one. After that, the manufacturer will probably replace this SUV with an all-electric one.
So far, the Durango has shared a platform with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and we expect the new full-size SUV to ride on a new body-on-frame platform, sharing underpinnings with the Jeep Wagoneer rather than the Grand Cherokee. Thanks to that, the forthcoming Durango could be a more affordable rival to the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition.
2024 Dodge Durango Facelift
We can say that the exterior is one of the unique features of this SUV. In general, there’s no other crossover SUV that provides such a unique look as the 2024 Dodge Durango. The muscular look with distinct curves is a highlight of this SUV.
Anyway, the look of this model can change a bit, and we recommend at least the R/T and SRT 392 models, which both have a decidedly sporty look thanks to the intimidating hood. On the other hand, you can get a Citadel trim, which looks a bit more premium thanks to the use of chrome. Size-wise, the Dodge Durango is similar to the Volkswagen Atlas, Mazda CX-9, and Ford Explorer.
More Comfort Inside
The new three-row full-size 2024 Dodge Durango will be a very spacious and comfortable SUV. In case you didn’t know, the interior of this model is made of great material quality, and the design can change a bit depending on the chosen trim.
For example, the base SXT and mid-range GT models are both available with an 8.4-inch display, while a 10.1-inch screen is optional on the GT and standard on the Citadel and R/T. It is also worth mentioning that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, while a rear-seat entertainment system is optional, just like a mighty sound system.
2024 Dodge Durango Engine Specs
At the moment, we don’t know what exact changes will be made to the upcoming 2024 Dodge Durango under its hood. Many believe that it will get some new engines, while on the other hand, many think that the engine lineup could remain unchanged.
So far, the Dodge Durango has been available with an optional V8, producing 360 horses. With this engine, this SUV was able to tow up to 8700 pounds. The V6 engine is the base one, producing 295 hp. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels or all-wheel drive.
How Much Will the 2024 Dodge Durango Cost?
We don’t know yet the answer to that question. The manufacturer didn’t unfortunately reveal any information about the price and release date of the 2024 Dodge Durango. From what we’ve been told, the next generation will probably cost more than before.
The current model starts at $39,355 for the SXT model, while GT costs $41k, GT Plus $46k, R/T $52K, Citadel at $53,550, Orange Sport $54k, and R/T Plus $56,755. In general, we don’t expect the new model to appear in the first quarter of next year, but it could be in the fall. Compared to other rivals, the Dodge Durango is in the same ballpark as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition.
