The next-generation 2024 Acura MDX EV will reportedly be the first all-electric SUV from this manufacturer. Acura has recently announced that the all-new electric SUV is set to arrive in the U.S. next year, using the new GM Global EV Platform.
This is definitely a great move and a step towards going emission-free. As far as we know, the new SUV will use Ultium Lithium-ion batteries and Ultium Drive electric motors. Also, according to Acura, the next MDX will go head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y. This means we can expect the new SUV to offer a range of 300 to 350 miles.
2024 Acura MDX EV Design
As for the exterior, the manufacturer will probably make some changes to separate the EV model from the rest of the models. So, the new 2024 Acura MDX EV will look way more attractive. As we said, it will ride on a new GM Global EV Platform, which should carry large batteries with ease.
From what we heard, the Acura MDX will dominate the front with a new closed grille and probably better-shaped headlights. In general, we do not expect it to be significantly larger than the gas-powered model, but a few inches will result in more room inside.
More Roomy Interior
Considering that the next-gen 2024 Acura MDX EV will ride on a new GM Global EV Platform, we’re expecting it to offer more room inside. The luxury midsize 3-row SUV will probably get many upgrades compared to the gasoline variant.
First of all, it will get a new infotainment system that will replace the current 12.3-inch infotainment display. Also, a digital driver information display is a must, just like wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. At the moment, we don’t know what packages and equipment will be available.
2024 Acura MDX EV Specs
Just like the recently revealed Cadillac Lyriq, the new 2024 Acura MDX will use the same EV system. This model comes with a single permanent magnet electric motor and rear-wheel drive. It produces 340 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Using the new lithium-ion chemistry, this model can have a max range of 312 miles. It also supports public DC fast charging, with a range of 76 miles available in about 10 minutes of charging.
We’re expecting the new MDX to use a dual-motor version with all-wheel drive as standard. Details such as driving range and torque output remain undisclosed, but if this model means to beat the Tesla Model Y, it must provide 300 to 350 miles on a single charge.
Price and Release Date of the 2024 Acura MDX EV
The forthcoming Acura MDX EV will be developed at the same Spring Hill plant in Tennessee where the Cadillac Lyriq is made. Considering that it uses the same EV system as the mentioned model, we’re expecting the new MDX to be similarly priced
So, the price of around $50,000 is likely. Honda has yet to reveal its exact release date, but we presume that it will hit the market sometime next year.
