The new 2023 Subaru XV crossover has been spied testing for the first time, ahead of its global unveiling next year. From information that we got, the forthcoming model will bring more tech and turbo power. As for the styling, the next-generation looks like an evolutionary step forward from its predecessor. However, it still has the same mixture of the current model’s hatchback shape with smoother lines and design cues taken from the latest Subaru’s design latest models.
The new subcompact crossover as rumors suggest will replace aging 2.0-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine will a new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder.
2023 Subaru XV First Look
The latest 2023 Subaru XV is caught recently on the road testing, but sadly wrapped in heavy camo. As far as we can see, the next-generation XV styling is an evolutionary step forward from its predecessor. This subcompact crossover is a mixture of the current model shape with smoother lines and design like the Subaru Forester.
The front end dominates with a slim new LED headlights linked to the hexagonal grille. We also noticed the chunky front-side intake detailing and fog lights inspired by the Viziv concept. The front wheel-arch vents are similar to WRX sedan, while rear features some Forester lines. We can see the same C-shaped tail-lights and off-road bumper with a mix of old and new design cues.
Cabin Design
The new spy shots of the 2023 Subaru XV don’t provide a clear look inside the cabin. However, with a brief peek through the windows, we noticed many upgrades. First of all, the Subaru XV will host a massive 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen. The same screen is seen on the latest models of the WRX and Outback.
We also heard that the new model would include as standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite navigation and digitized climate controls. Like the upcoming Levorg, the Subaru XV carry-over the same premium items including heated seats, leather upholstery, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and more.
2023 Subaru XV Powertrain Specs
Reportedly, the new 2023 Subaru XV will use new engine. According to many, the aging 2.0-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine will be replaced with a new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder. From what we heard; the smaller engine will offer a similar power output. However, the future of the petrol-electric hybrid powertrain isn’t clear.
Many believe the next-generation will adopt Toyota’s existing hybrid engine. A 2.5-litre non-turbo petrol four-cylinder was available on the range-topping XV variants in the US last year, and we believe that this engine will also be replaced with the new one. A new Subaru strategy is clear, and we can expect all future models to be more competitive on the market.
