The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek will arrive later this year with some major changes. As far as we know, the new compact crossover should get more attractive exterior and probably a significant makeover inside as well. Like the popular Forester compact SUV, the Crosstrek will be built on the same architecture.
The overall size and shape of this SUV-Wagon will largely remain, though the front end will get most of the modifications. The new Crosstrek will reportedly come with a reshaped grille and slimmer headlights, similar to one we saw on the Forester. Besides some cosmetic changes, a 4-cylinder boxer-style engine will continue to power this model, sending power through all-wheel drive system.
2023 Subaru Crosstrek Facelift
As we mentioned, the exterior styling of the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek will be much more attractive than before. Like the current Forester, the Crosstrek will ride on the same platform with a ground clearance of 8.7 inches, which is the same as the Jeep Cherokee.
For 2023, some major changes will happen on the front end, and we can expect this compact crossover to come with a reshaped grille and slimmer headlights. The Sport version will be available as well, and it should come with its own design, including alloy wheels finished in dark gray. On top of that, the Crosstrek has roof rails as standard.
Interior Layout
The cabin of the Crosstrek has always been modern, but this time it will become better. However, as a model before, this compact crossover can accommodate a couple of average-sized adults on the back, providing great comfort. Cargo space of this model is 20.8 cubic feet behind, and it can be expended to 55.3 cubic feet when they’re folded down.
The battery pack means a higher loadspace floor, so the hybrid offers 15.9 and 43.1 cubic feet. With a choice of standard model, you’ll get an amazing infotainment system of 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, AM/FM radio, one USB port, Bluetooth, and four speakers. Safety is also great, and it includes seven airbags, traction/stability control, and whiplash-reducing front seats.
2023 Subaru Crosstrek Engine Specs
At this moment, it’s not clear if Subaru boosts the current base 4-cylinder engine. This engine so far produced 152-horsepower, providing a great amount of torque. Many believe that the optional 182-hp 4-cylinder will become the base one for 2023.
A plug-in hybrid variant will also be available, consisting of 2.0-liter flat-4 with two electric motors. The engine is motivated by a lithium-ion battery, developing a total of 148 horsepower. Thanks to the battery, the Crosstrek hybrid can run solely in electric vehicle mode for around 17 miles. Charging the battery takes two hours with a 240-volt supply, while with 120 volts it takes five hours. The maximum towing ability of any models above is 1,500 pounds.
