The all-new 2023 Honda HR-V has been announced, and we have our first look at its renderings. As we can see, this small subcompact crossover will receive many upgrades compared to the previous generation. Honda stated recently that the new HR-V would come with increased versatility, style and performance. Unfortunately, the manufacturer right now has no plans to use plug-in hybrids, but full electrification is expected.
The upcoming Honda HR-V will reportedly borrow the engine from the famous Honda Civic. That means we can expect two engines including a model that produces 158-horsepower or 180-horsepower from a turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The HR-V will be launched before summer, as a 2023 model. At the same time, we expect Honda Passport and Honda Accord to debut as well.
2023 Honda HR-V Redesign
In terms of styling, the 2023 Honda HR-V is more eye-catchy than before. The new crossover looks attractive with blunter front end. However, Honda is still quiet about many details regarding this model. As we can see from the first renderings, the forthcoming SUV dominates the front end with more attractive grille, new shaped LED headlights, and the somehow different hood.
The grille is identical as we saw on the recently introduced Honda Ridgeline, which means every upcoming model will use the same design language. We also noticed large wheels and more attractive LED taillights.
Cabin Upgrades
Inside, the 2023 Honda HR-V will look definitively more modern than the outgoing model. Unfortunately, at this moment there is no image of its interior. Actually, we heard many rumors, and the most recent one is that Honda HR-V will offer both a classic and attractive interior. We expect it to keep the current Magic Seat, which allows the rear bench to flip and fold, offering double cargo capacity.
On the other hand, many believe it will come with a larger screen than the current 7.0-inch. Besides, as the Civic model, the Honda HR-V will likely to come as standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, onboard Wi-Fi, SiriusXM radio, and in-dash navigation.
2023 Honda HR-V Engine Specs
Based on many rumors, the 2023 Honda HR-V will likely use the same engine as the Honda Civic. The current model is using two different powertrains. The base version comes with a 2.0-liter inline-4 that is capable of producing 158 horses with 138 lb-ft of torque. The next one is more potent thanks to a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 making 180 horsepower with 177 lb-ft of torque.
It’s worth mentioning that this model in Europe will be available with new e: HEV system. The same system is powering the Insight and Accord hybrid models.
2023 Honda HR-V Release Date, Price
The release of the new HR-V Honda’s smallest crossover is expected to happen later this year. As we mentioned, the forthcoming model is likely to use the same powertrains as the Honda Civic. We also expect e: HEV system that would be exclusive for Europe customers.
As far as we know, the entry-level LX should start at $23,000, while Sport model at $25,000, and EX at around $26,000. Moreover, the most expensive EX-L costs little less than 30k.
