The 2023 Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact SUV/crossover that will go on sale later this year. This model is very affordable, and it features many technologies that we saw on the priciest models. However, according to many reports, the Chevy Trax appears to be nearing the end of its road, which means the 2023YM will be the last produced version. The reason is simple, Chevrolet has the newer and far more attractive Trailblazer SUV in its lineup.
Beneath the hood, the latest Chevy Trax uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. As you can see, this is the only low side of this small crossover. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic, and the engine is sending power to the front wheels (FWD) in standard form. Alternatively, you can get an all-wheel drive (AWD) as an optional.
2023 Chevy Trax Redesign
The design of the 2023 Chevy Trax remains chunky and upright. This small crossover is very compact and is ideal for taking tight parking spots. Both versions come with a silver-painted front and rear skid plates, LED daytime running lights, attractive grille, and LED taillights. The roof rails are also standard, which is a big plus. In addition, there are some appearance packages that add visual punch thanks to a stylish 18-inch alloy wheels.
Midnight Edition is available, and it adds skid plates, wheels, badges, and door handles in, unsurprisingly, black. The Redline Edition is the most favorite, featuring a black theme and a few red stripes here and there.
Cabin Refreshments
The interior of the new 2023 Chevy Trax comes with no significant changes over the previous generation. Of course, the manufacturer refreshed styling inside by using more quality materials and updated technologies. However, like before, the Trax offers two rows of seats and enough room to accommodate five passengers. Rear legroom is 35.7 inches, which is not spacious as the Honda HR-V’s 39.3 inches. Behind the rear seats, the luggage area is 18.7 cubic feet, and it can be expanded to 48.4 cubic feet when those seats are folded.
Like the outgoing model, the new Trax is available in two trim levels, and both come standard with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and a 6-speaker audio setup. The LS is the base model, and it features cloth upholstery. However, the LT is an upper trim that comes with cloth/simulated leather upholstery, while full simulated leather upholstery is optional.
2023 Chevy Trax Engine Specs
Under the hood, the current Chevrolet Trax is powered by sole engine. Moreover, we think that the new one will use the same powertrain as well. The engine consists of a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
The power is sent through a 6-speed automatic transmission, and front wheels (FWD) in standard form. Alternatively, buyers can get an all-wheel drive (AWD), which is only on the options list.
2023 Chevy Trax Price, Release Date
The 2023 Chevy Trax starts at $21,400 for the base model, and it can top out in the region of $27K for the fully loaded highest trim. Despite some small exterior and interior upgrades, it’s more than likely that the new Trax will keep the same engine as the outgoing one.
The Chevy Trailblazer is a much better option, and it starts at only $21K. It’s worth mentioning that the Hyundai Kona costs $22K, while the rivals such as the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30, Toyota C-HR, and Subaru Crosstrek are in the same ballpark with the Trax. We can expect the new Trax to go on sale later this year.
