Cadillac recently revealed its first pure electric SUV, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, which should be produced in late 2022. The new luxury crossover SUV comes with attractive styling, and its body shape is a more traditional hatchback than the sloping coupe-inspired 4-door look. Unlike other Cadillac models, the Lyriq will introduce a new look with more horizontal elements on the front, moving away from the shield-like grille.
Besides, the electric SUV will feature many new technologies inside, and one of the comfortable cabins in the class. On top of that, it will ride on a new EV platform that incorporates G.M.’s Ultrium battery into the floor structure. The same battery pack will be used on the upcoming GMC Sierra EV truck.
2023 Cadillac Lyriq Design
The new 2023 Cadillac Lyriq definitively stands out with its attractive design. First of all, this model is massive, thanks to the long nose and short rear deck. The Lyriq has a 121.8-inch wheelbase and is longer and wider than the Escalade.
On the design side, it features an attractive and massive griller, LED lighting signature at both ends, and Cadillac recognizable badge. Cadillac says the Lyriq’s design will be enhanced thanks to new standard 20-inch wheels that can be upgraded to 22-inch wheels. Interestingly, Cadillac stated that both variants come with self-sealing tires, so presumably, there will be no spare tire at all.
Modern and Techy Cabin
The cabin of the upcoming 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will be one of the modern. Also, it’s very roomy, offering 28 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seat. However, this can be increased by folding it down and opening 60.8 cubic feet. The giant 33-inch LCD screen dominates the dashboard, and it’s one of the most massive that we ever saw.
According to Caddilac, you can control almost everything on board, and the display provides a billion colors. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot will come standard, while a 19-speaker stereo system AKG will be optional.
2023 Cadillac Lyriq Uses a New G.M.’s Ultrium Battery
As mentioned, the new 2023 Cadillac Lyriq represents the first vehicle to open a portfolio of EVs from G.M.’s luxury brand. This EV rides on the new platform, incorporating a potent G.M.’s Ultrium battery pack into the floor structure.
The manufacturer says Lyriq will have a standard rear-drive, while the performance version should come with an all-wheel drive. Cadillac also stated that the upcoming SUV would support a fast-charge capability DC. This model can recharge at rates exceeding 150 kW, allowing for a full charge in less than an hour, and delivering 300-plus miles range.
How Much Will the Cadillac Lyriq Cost?
The division said that the production of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq should begin in late 2022. Besides the U.S. market, the vehicle will also be available in other parts on the world. We expect the Cadillac Lyriq to start at around $80,000, which is in line with the Tesla Model X.
However, Cadillac’s design is one of the most recognized, plus Lyriq comes with a new Ultrium battery pack that provides a range of 300-plus miles. With dual-motor, the Tesla’s Model X offers 351 miles of range, which is significantly better than the Lyriq.
