The mild disguised 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo prototype has been caught testing two days ago. By the way, the changes on the spied model are easily visible mostly on the front and rear fascia. In addition, it features a revised grille and larger cooling ducts for engine and front brakes. On top of that, the German automaker will introduce a more comfortable cabin filled with new technology.
However, like before, the Cayenne Turbo will use the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that will receive some changes. Besides this engine, the manufacturer also offers a more powerful Turbo S E-Hybrid that produces 670 horsepower.
2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo Design
The more powerful 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo comes with an updated front fascia with a revised splitter and larger cooling ducts. Generally speaking, the design lines are identical to the existing coupe, but with some here and there changes. Like before, the new one will also be available with a carbon-fiber roof and a larger active rear spoiler for increased downforce.
Porsche claims that the rear spoiler reduces better turbulence, resulting in more speed. The side profile is also more aggressive, and the manufacturer used standard 22-inch Neodyme wheels sized 285/35R-22 in front and 315/30R-22 at the rear. On the back, the Porsche Cayenne continuous to offers the same taillight, and it also houses a pair of a new titanium sports exhaust system.
Panamera’s Influence Inside
The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo cabin remains luxurious, and many of the changes have been made to the third generation. Stepping in, you can clearly see the Panamera’s influence. Like the standard model, we should expect the new Coupe to offers the same 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, 10-speaker/150-watt audio system, and keyless entry with push-button start.
Moreover, unlike the base model, the Turbo also gets some extra features like leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, 18-way-adaptive sport seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 21-speaker/1,455-watt Burmester audio system.
2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo Engine Specs
The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo engines are smooth and hugely flexible, offering plenty of torque and great low-rpm grunt. The base model draws power from the 4.0-liter V-8 that liberates an additional 90 horsepower, compared to the previous model. The current model produces with the same engine 541 horses, while the new one 631 hp. Overall, that’s 40 more ponies than we saw on the Audi RS Q8 and 28 horsepower more than in the BMW X6 M Competition.
The most potent Cayenne model, the Turbo S E-Hybrid, combines a V-8 engine with an electric motor and a 17.9-kWh battery. Combined, the Turbo S E-Hybrid delivers 670 horsepower. Both Turbo models use a conventional ZF eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission that can handle shifting quickly and smoothly.
Release Date, Price
Porsche has yet to reveal many details regarding the upcoming 2022 Cayenne Turbo. However, from available information, the refreshed variant will be introduced in June, while sales should begin soon after.
Unfortunately, at this point, there is no information on how much the new model could cost. The current model starts at $127,550, while the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid costs $163,200.
