The new 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 is coming, and it will gain excellent off-road abilities. Unlike the regular Terrain, the new AT4 looks more rugged thanks to the many blacked-out details, noted knobbier tires, and more off-road components to match the looks.
Besides the new AT4 version, the Terrain is getting a midcycle update on all trims, including SLE, SLT, and Denali. According to General Motors, all models will receive refreshed look and more technology. Regardless of the variant, the new Terrain models will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged l-4 that produces 170-hp and 203-lb-ft. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, GMC has been forced to delay its official launch date for the end of this year.
2022 GMC Terrain AT4 First Look
GMC fulfills its promise, and it`s started bringing the AT4 package to every model in its lineup. The first SUV that will introduce it is the 2022 GMC Terrain AT4. This version looks muscular at first glance, and it features more off-road capability than any other model in the GMC line.
Generally speaking, the front fascia dominates with a darkened grille and signature C-shaped LED lighting, resulting in an aggressive look. Unlike the regular model, the AT4 also comes with many black chrome exterior accents, mainly visible on the front fascia and 17-inch Gloss-Black wheels with Goodyear Sport Terrain tires. However, besides this version, GMC refreshed and modernized Denali to match other rivals in a highly competitive segment.
Cabin Offers Excellent Comfort
The new 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 features many premium materials inside. Moreover, like the regular model, the same seating layout is present, offering excellent comfort for all passengers. Stepping into this SUV, you will first notice a clean dashboard and Jet Black leather-appointed driver, and front-passenger seats.
On the tech side, the AT4 comes with the same infotainment system as the base model, and it also has a head-up display that allows drivers to view essential vehicle information. The most exciting thing is that the Terrain AT4 will let you take Alexa with you on the road, thanks to the Alexa Built-In. On top of that, you don’t need to carry a charging cord anymore because Terrain AT4’s offers wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.
2022 GMC Terrain AT4 Powertrain Specs
Under the hood, the latest 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 will not differ at all from the standard version. Basically, it uses the same 1.5-liter turbocharged l-4 producing 170-hp and 203-lb-ft. Also, it comes paired with a nine-speed automatic, and all-wheel-drive, routing power to the front or rear wheels. Drivers can switch between standard AWD, FWD, and Off-Road mode on the fly from the GMC statement. If you didn’t know, last year GM dropped the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, like its cousin, the Chevrolet Equinox.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be returning for 2022. However, we heard many rumors, and one of them is that GMC could add one optional mill to the lineup.
Release Date, Price
The fresh new 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 is the SUV that looks more rugged than the regular one. Besides, it’s off-road-ready, and it comes standard with the latest GMC Pro Safety. The package includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, and much more.
Unfortunately, as we said, due to Coronavirus, GMC has been forced to delay its official launch date in late summer. Pricing is not yet determined, but it should be very soon.
