The new GV70 prototype is caught testing yesterday wearing a heavy camo. The first spy photos show that the 2022 Genesis GV70 obviously takes inspiration from the larger GV80. It wears identical design language, borrowing the same shape and design of headlights and taillights.
From the information available on almost every popular website about cars, this SUV will arrive next year in the U.S as the 2022 model year.
2022 Genesis GV70 Is the Company’s Smallest SUV
The company’s smallest SUV 2022 Genesis GV70 that sits bellow the bigger GV80 has caught testing recently on the Nürburgring. At first look, the upcoming model is wearing heavy camo. Also, it sports the same fresh looks as the rest of the Genesis lineup. The new SUV is based on the G70 sedan, and it features plenty of similar elements. Moreover, the larger GV80 SUV utilizes the G80 sedan’s platform, so expect that GV70 compact luxury SUV ride on the same platform as the G70 sedan.
First thing first, the caught prototype looks attractive, and it features familiar quad headlamps. The same design language is present on the brand’s first SUV, the GV80. Generally, GV70 shares with big brother several styling cues. It comes with the shield-shaped grille that dominates the front end and horizontal headlights with LED accents. The lower bumper receives mesh-like inserts giving this model a relatively sporty look. On the back, this model wears a spoiler and a pair of two-piece horizontal lights. We also can see that the manufacturer added new sizable round exhaust tips, suggest we’re looking at a performance-oriented variant, not at a base model.
Interior Will Host Some Luxury From the G70 Sedan
Inside, the upcoming 2022 Genesis GV70 features a very luxurious cabin. Besides, it offers maximum comfort for all occupants, thanks to the excellently arranged interior. If you didn’t know, GV80 SUV and G80 sedan have similar interiors, so expect the G70’s interior to be implanted on the upcoming GV70.
From the information that we got, buyers can expect plenty of upscale materials and more standard features. The new SUV GV70 will host the same 10.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. Like the bigger GV80 SUV, expect ultimate safety like new omnidirectional anti-collision technology, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot view monitor, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance-assist, lane following assist, and much more.
2022 Genesis GV70 Powertrain Details
Like the larger GV80 model, the upcoming 2022 Genesis GV70 rides on the same platform. That means GV70 will most likely use the same powertrains as its big brother. If you don’t remember, the GV80 is powered by two engine choices. The first engine is a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four delivering 290-hp.
However, the more powerful engine is a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that can be found on some of the Genesis vehicles. This powertrain is capable of producing 375 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 391 lb-ft of torque. Like the first powertrain, the more powerful will use the same 8-speed automatic transmission.
