The upcoming three-row 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe is ready to receive some significant updates. This full-size SUV is GM’s pinnacle that provides handsome styling, and an even better interior. On top of that, it shares plenty of design cues and mechanical structures with the much larger Chevy Suburban.
For 2022, Tahoe will receive some updates, and it will look much better. Along with a completely redesigned cabin, this three-row SUV offers more standard features, and it also provides more cargo and passenger space. However, like before, this model is powered by two gasoline and one diesel option.
2022 Chevrolet Tahoe Redesign
The new 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe is one of the best SUVs in the market. It’s almost half a foot longer than the previous model. Generally, like the Chevy Silverado and Chevy Suburban, the new Tahoe receives the same dose of uniqueness. It retains the same traditional boxy shape, with a much bigger grille. On top of that, headlight housings are reshaped, making more distinctive boomerang running lights and standard LED headlights.
From the side, the Tahoe has a more athletic stance, especially if you choose the RST model. Then you’re going to get a “street-inspired” look with blacked-out aesthetics and stylish 22-inch wheels. The premium High Country model is still the best option and the most expensive. It hosts bronze grille accents, optional power-retractable assist steps, and new shiny 22-inch wheels.
Cabin Features and Updates
The latest 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe comes in the form of a 3-row seater, providing enough room for everyone. Notably, the new cabin is much roomier than before. The third row now has few more inches of legroom, which means adults can actually sit back there comfortably. Cargo space is a class-leading, with 25.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats. The current model only provides 15.3 cubic feet.
As for standard equipment, all Tahoe models include premium cloth seating, tri-zone climate control, 8-way power front seats, remote engine start, and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Also, it comes with a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and 6-speaker audio system, 4G LTE, and in-vehicle Wi-Fi is also standard. The base model still offers a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
2022 Chevrolet Tahoe Engine Specs
The new 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe offers a choice of three engines. Like the previous generation, the new one uses the same 5.3-liter V8 engine that makes a healthy 355 horsepower. This engine is standard on all except High Country models. However, if you want something more powerful and more significant, General Motors also offers a 6.2-liter V8 optionally, making 420-horsepower. This powertrain is only available if you buy the top-line High Country model.
New to the Tahoe lineup is the 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6 that is optional in all but the Z71 model. This model is the most economical, and it produces 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. According to Chevrolet, the diesel model is rated in city/highway 21 mpg/28 mpg (RWD), 20 mpg/26 mpg (4WD). All models above are available with 10-speed automatic transmission as the only option. The Tahoe also uses a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) as standard or a 4-wheel drive (4WD) across the line optionally. On the other hand, Tahoe’s maximum towing capacity is still 8,400 pounds.
Release Date and Price
The new 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe will bring a completely new cabin and more standard features. According to General Motors Company, the new model will be introduced at some point in 2021, while sales can be expected later in the same year.
The price will probably be slightly higher than the current $49,000. Fully loaded, a Tahoe can reach easily reach price of $70,000. Compared to other models in the segment, Tahoe is a few thousand less than the Ford Expedition and nearly in line with the Toyota Sequoia.
