The forthcoming 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will get numerous improvements. For the start, this SUV will arrive with better safety rating and minor visual revisions. On top of that, Hyundai killed the range-topping Ultimate trim level. The 2021 Santa Fe will continue to ride on the fourth generation that was introduced in 2019. Knowing that Santa Fe is still a fresh model in every possible category.
For that reason, we don’t expect major changes in this model. Santa Fe will once again deliver a long list of standard amenities. High-quality interior guarantees great comfort. Under the hood, the base 2.4-liter engine remains. It is perhaps the weakest spot of Hyundai’s latest SUV.
2021 Santa Fe Exterior Changes
The all-new 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will get small exterior revisions. That includes minor upgrades of the front and rear fascia. Headlights and LED daytime running lights are slightly reshaped. Front grille remains, which is a good thing. Generally, we like the angular design of the front end. In the back, Santa Fe will get a taller rear glass that is also bigger now.
Taillights are also enlarged and are looking very modern. The side profile remains and this could be a problem for Hyundai. Numerous feedbacks are complaining about the unusual styling that doesn’t look attractive at all. As for the rest of exterior features, Santa Fe offers standard 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
Unique Interior Design
Since the introduction the new-gen Santa Fe, Hyundai delivered high-quality interior. The 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will continue in the same manner and comfort is very satisfying. Some parts of the cabin are looking really unique. For the start, we like the three-level instrument cluster. Seats are very supportive and the interior room is generous. Legroom is ample and thanks taller passengers don’t have to worry about the headroom. Santa Fe is a compact crossover that offers a room for five persons.
Many automakers are opting for a three-row layout which provides less space from the inside. Santa Fe is still an old-school crossover with two rows. Moreover, upper trim levels are offering real luxury. For 2021, Santa Fe will get more safety features. However, SEL Plus and range-topping Ultimate trim level are not available anymore. Furthermore, Hyundai removed sliding rear seat system.
Two Powertrain Options
There will be no changes under the bonnet. The 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will continue to offer two engine options. The first option is a 2.4-liter gasoline engine that delivers 185 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. This engine is somehow still available as its power and fuel economy are subpar. For that reason, most of the customers are ready to pay more in order to get 2.0-liter turbo engine. This optional unit produces 235 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
Hyundai promised a hybrid version as well. According to the manufacturer, hybrid drivetrain won’t deliver more power. However, better fuel efficiency and lower emissions are something that has to be done. Base engine delivers 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The optional AWD system will lower those figures.
2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Price and Release Date
The price of the base SE trim level will start at $27,000. SEL trim will now cost $29,500. As we already wrote, SEL Plus and Ultimate trim level are gone now. For that reason, the Limited model is now the range-topping trim level and it will cost around $40,000.
The 2021 Hyundai Santa FE will arrive later next year. Hyundai will try to rival models such as Nissan Murano, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
