As we already wrote, a new 2021 Honda CR-V will finally introduce a total redesign. While the exterior looks upscale it was aging and refreshments are something that needed to happen. The future model will most likely get a new platform. The main reason for such a radical move from Honda is the vehicle’s dimensional changes. New CR-V will be larger than its predecessor. This will result in numerous significant changes. For the start, new design language, sportier styling, and larger exterior features will happen.
Design-wise, this model will be similar to the new HR-V model. We still don’t know if the CR-V model will remain a compact crossover. If this is the case, Honda could make a great advantage next year for various reasons. We can also expect a brand-new face, which includes a new grille, LED headlights and bumpers. On top of that, the rear part will now sport new taillights and new wheels could be in the offer as well.
More High-Quality Materials
Thanks to the latest dimensional changes, the 2021 Honda CR-V will be larger. Thanks to that, we could finally see a third-row that will be optional. 2021 Honda CR-V Powertrain
We are still waiting for official information about the possible drivetrain changes. To this moment, new 2021 Honda CR-V will offer two engine options. The first option is a 2.4-liter gasoline four-cylinder that delivers 184 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. This unit is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. As you can see, solid power and great fuel efficiency is Honda’s priority. Moreover, a CVT transmission is in the offer. A 1.5-liter turbo is an optional engine and it produces 190 horses and 180 lb-ft of torque.
This engine also provides great fuel economy, 28/34 mpg. An all-wheel-drive setup is optional, no matter which engine you opt for. The diesel variant will become available in some markets. It is a 1.6-liter will deliver around 120 horsepower and over 200 lb-ft of torque. Change of platform clearly suggests a hybrid powertrain. This could easily happen in 2021 but Honda refuses to provide further details on this topic.
Price and Release Date
Brand-new 2021 Honda CR-V will cost a little more and will start at $26,500. When you look at the number of updates, the price increase isn’t significant at all. New CR-V will continue to compete with Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Rogue. Its release date is expected to be sometime next year.
