The popular German`s manufacturer has announced the new 2021 BMW X3 that will get some redesign and updates. However, probably the most attention is focused on the plug-in hybrid engine that will give great performance and better fuel consumption. Also, the manufacturer will continue to offer the mighty M model that will be able to produce 355 horses and 369 lb-ft of torque.

In terms of exterior design, the new 2020 BMW X3 won’t see many changes as expected. However, most of the facelift will be available with the M package. As for the cabin, more tech and features will be installed. Also, safety will be way better than before.

2021 BMW X3 Redesign

The 2021 BMW X3 is a small SUV that comes with an attractive and handsome design. If we compare this model with the BMW X1, the new BMW X3 is larger. The front of this SUV is also more attractive than on the X1. The new model wears well-known kidney grille and traditional headlamps that are powered with the latest LED lights. Also, the same lights are powering the taillights. As we can notice, the taillight this year is wider and the rear glass as well.

The side of the BMW X3 will be available with the 17 inches wheels as the standard, while there is an optional 20- inches wheels that give a more luxurious and a sportier look. However, if one goes for the M model, it will get a more aggressive appearance and stronger front and rear bumpers. Also, the front grille will be more attractive, and the rear will get a powerful exhaust system.

2021 BMW X3 Interior Updates

The 2021 BMW X3 will feature an attractive design inside. There will be quality materials all over the cabin. Speaking of comfort, the front cabin will provide more rooms than the back. The BMW X3 comes with two rows of seats that is enough to place five passengers. Thanks to that, there will be more storage space. Behind the second row, the buyers will get around 28.7 cubic feet. However, with the second row folded the rooms will expand to almost 63 cubes.

As for the techs inside, the BMW X3 has a lot of them. At the center of the dashboard, there is a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. However, choosing higher trims, the buyers will get a bigger 10.5-inch screen and many new features.

Powertrain

The newest 2021 BMW X3 will be available with few engine options. The standard model is powered with a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine that is able to make 248 horses and the 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. Also, the buyers can choose models with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

According to the latest fuel rate test, this engine with the RWD system will give 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. However, with the all-wheel-drive model, the fuel consumption is 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

2021 BMW X3 M

The 2021 BMW X3 M that will be also available at the same time as the base model. This sporty SUV will be the game-changer. It comes with a 3.0-liter inline-6 turbocharged engine. Furthermore, this unit will be capable of producing 355 horses and 369 lb-ft of torque. It will be also connected to the same 8-speed automatic gearbox. However, the all-wheel-drive system will be standard on this one. Exact fuel economy numbers are not presented at this moment.

Plug-in hybrid model

The 2021 BMW X3 plug-in hybrid engine will be also available. This model will come with the name X3 xDrive30e. It will most likely consist of the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline turbo unit and an electric motor. Also, the powerful lithium-ion battery of 7.6 kWh will power this SUV. With the combination above, the new plug-in hybrid model will produce around 275 horses and the torque of 295 pound-feet of torque. On the electric-only, the range will be at least 30 miles. As with the M version, the all-wheel-drive system will be standard.

Release date and price

The 2021 BMW X3 will hit the road at the end of the next year. The price of the base model will be around $35.000. However, the model with the M package can go up to $50.000, while the plug-in hybrid may start at $43.000.
