The upcoming 2021 BMW X2 is the new luxury SUV that will host radicals changes. As you may have already known, this is the second-generation that will be followed with the same design and shape.
According to the BMW automaker, the upcoming model will bring more refreshments and there will be numerous improvements. On top of that, the next generation will use vast powertrain options. Besides that, we can expect more features and even more upscale materials inside. The new model is officially confirmed and we can expect it to debut sometime next year.
2021 BMW X2 Changes
The exterior design of 2021 BMW X2 won’t depart from the first generation. The new model will keep the same design and shape. Moreover, as the previous one, the new model cannot be confused with another subcompact crossover because it has its own unique design.
However, the high-performance model M35i is more stylish than its base sibling. This model hosts 28i’s shiny silver lower vent that is body-colored and shiny black accents. The dual kidney grille looks attractive and this trim includes exclusive 20-inch M-Sport wheels that give an extra dose of sportiness.
Design Inside
The upcoming 2021 BMW X2 looks astonishing inside. This model is proven as one of the best equipped in its class. Design is modern and there are plenty of new amenities. Also, it offers more comfort than before. We like the new 8.8-inch touchscreen that looks clean, crisp, and relatively easy to use. If this is not enough, there is an optional Premium package to choose that costs only $1,800 more. This package will add a head-up display and new navigation.
The X2 M35i will even bring more features. This model supports wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility. Also, it comes with power-folding mirrors, a power tailgate, and power front seats as standard. Furthermore, if one needs more lights inside the cabin, there is a panoramic moonroof that costs $1,350 more.
As we already mentioned, comfort is high and the new X2 offers 21.6 cubic feet behind the second row. However, folding the second row, this SUV reveals 50.1 cubic feet of space.
Safety
The BMW X2’s standard active safety list is longer than before. The new model will provide more advanced optional equipment. Things like a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, active cruise control, and parking sensors come standard.
Furthermore, optionally one can get adaptive cruise control with the Active Driving Assistant (lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, daytime pedestrian protection), for an additional $1,000.
2021 BMW X2 Under the Hood
The approaching 2021 BMW X2 will be available with two engine options. The first powers the base model and it consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is able to pumps the power figure up from 228 horsepower. The second one powertrain powers M35i model.
The “high-performance” model will use the same engine as the base one. However, thanks to some modifications, this version is capable of delivering 301 horses and 331 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, M35i model is the most powerful four-cylinder engine that famous BMW has ever built. Both models will use an eight-speed automatic gearbox and xDrive system as standard.
2021 BMW X2 Pricing and Debut
The second-generation 2021 BMW X2 will be better looking and it will bring more changes inside. Like before, this SUV remains to be filled with the latest techs and upscale materials. However, this time there will be even more features.
According to the latest news, the 2021 BMW X2 will start at $36,400, which makes this SUV second most expensive in its class. The Jaguar E-Pace is still the most expensive, with a price of $38,900. However, going for the more sporty X2 M35i model, the price will jump to $46,450.
