The all-new 2020 Peugeot 2008 will go on sale later in 2019. The second-gen 2008 SUV will swap its regular engine lineup with the electric power. The first generation brought huge success and now it is time for the second-gen model to make the impact. Of course, the highlight of the 2020 model is its e-2008 variant. Exterior will also suffer a lot.
The front end will host plenty of innovations. The interior will offer more rear-seat legroom this time. Moreover, the interior will look closer to the interior of the recently redesigned Peugeot 208 model. Of course, the all-electric drivetrain is probably the greatest improvement on the all-new model.
2020 Peugeot 2008 Design Updates
The French automaker will deliver plenty of visual upgrades. New 2020 Peugeot 2008 will look beefier than its predecessor. Whatsoever, this SUV now comes with a more pronounced front fascia. The horizontal grille is slightly redesigned and LED headlights are now available in the hook-shape.
Dimensionally, the new 2008 SUV is slightly bigger than the current model. To be more precise, this model is 5.5 inches longer and wheelbase is slightly stretched as well. The sloping roof looks incredible and the rear end will introduce very minor changes. That includes cleaner design in the back and slightly reshaped bumper.
Interior Improvements and Cargo Space
As for the interior, the highlight of the new model is improved cabin room. Thanks to the longer wheelbase and sloping roof, this SUV now offers more space from the inside. Rear-seat passengers will benefit the most. According to the French manufacturer, rear legroom is better than ever before. Behind the rear seats, new 2020 Peugeot 2008 offers 15.3 cubic feet of cargo space.
That is also a significant improvement over the previous generation. Next-gen 2008 will look closer to its 208 siblings. This SUV now offers more stylish finishes and shapes. Dual digital displays are available and new “piano keys” are in the offer too. Center stack holds more functions than before. There will be four trim levels and upper trims are offering standard leather upholstery. As for safety, Peugeot 2008 will get new adaptive cruise control and lane departure assistance. On top of that, blind spot monitoring, auto headlamps, and the auto emergency braking are all optional.
Powertrain Options
The upcoming 2020 Peugeot 2008 is available with a couple of engine choices. A 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine is available in three different outputs. The first output is rated at 100 HP.
The second output generates 130 and third output up to 155 horsepower. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder Blue HD unit is available too. This diesel drivetrain is producing 100 or 130 horses.
2020 Peugeot e-2008
New electric Peugeot will finally arrive. Visually, it will look the same as the regular model. The 2020 Peugeot 2008 will deploy a single electric motor that delivers 136 HP and 192 lb-ft of torque.
A 50-kWh battery is available too and it provides 193 miles of driving range. Recharge times are depending on the power source, logically. Also, with an a100-kW outlet, it needs 30 minutes for 80 percent recharge.
Price and Release Date
Both variants are available in four trim levels: Active, Allure, GT Line and GT. The 2020 Peugeot 2008 will cost slightly more than its predecessor. However, Peugeot is still refusing to release full pricing details.
The all-electric e-2008 will cost slightly over the base model. This SUV will arrive in Europe later this year. The rest of the markets will have to wait for the beginning of 2020.
