2024 Mazda CX-70 Coming Next Year with Hybrid Powertrain

The brand-new 2024 Mazda CX-70 will reportedly go on sale in the U.S. next summer. From the information that we got, it will share the same platform and powertrain as the upcoming CX-90, which is a 3-row midsize SUV. In case you didn’t know, this SUV serves as the replacement for the CX-9. However, the CX-70 is a much smaller SUV, and because of that, it is expected to deliver room for up to five passengers. The manufacturer said that they would prioritize the cargo room behind the split-folding second row.

While many details remain scarce at the time of writing, we expect it to use a new 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that should deliver 227 horsepower (or 250 hp when running on premium-grade gasoline). We are also expecting to see a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant at some point as well.

2024 Mazda CX-70 Design

As we mentioned, the new 2024 Mazda CX-70 will be a brand new model from this manufacturer. The midsize SUV shares the same platform and 6-cylinder powertrain as the upcoming CX-90. Nevertheless, it is expected to also feature the same updated KODO design language.

The new SUV will probably come with a recognized grille and a new shaped headlight. Also, the manufacturer will make some changes at the rear, and expect a new taillight. As for size, the CX-70 will be placed between the compact CX-50 and the bigger three-row CX-90 model.

Modern and Spacious Interior

While details remain scarce at the time of writing, we expect the new 2024 Mazda CX-70 to offer a very spacious interior. Certainly, tech touches like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless device charging, an onboard W-Fi hot spot, and a plethora of USB outlets are expected to be part of standard equipment.

Also, we’re welcoming safety features like forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and more.

2024 Mazda CX-70 Engine Specs

At the moment, we don’t know what will be under the hood of the new 2024 Mazda CX-70. Nevertheless, many believe that it will be powered by the same engine as the outgoing CX-9. This model uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder producing 227 horsepower (or 250 hp when running on premium-grade gasoline).

On the other hand, we believe that it will use a new inline-6 with similar power output. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant is highly likely, and we expect at least around 30 miles of electric-only driving range. That would put the 2024 Mazda CX-70 on equal footing with rivals like the Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

As for a plug-in hybrid version, the price will probably range from $37,000 to $40,000. According to many reports, the new Mazda CX-70 will arrive next year.
