2019 Nissan Qashqai exterior design and comparison with an older version

Nissan is doing a great job with the exterior refreshments year by year. It is perhaps the best thing about the 2019 Nissan Qashqai. Each year brings a slightly different and refreshed exterior, and we must say that the upcoming model looks stunning. We put some image comparison to see differences between the older and the newest version.

The new design adds a somewhat sharper and muscular look. Front-end sports a more creased fascia and more angular headlights. The grille is slightly larger and the fog lights are polished. The profile is done in a classic SUV design where the rear part looks stubby like most of the hatchbacks.

The rear part gets the taillights that are stretching into the sides and the roof spoiler is wider than on the previous model. The 19-inch alloy wheels are optional, just like the LED daytime running lights. The 2019 Nissan Qashqai will see some slight dimensional changes as well. This SUV is 1.85 inches longer and 0.80 inches wider. On top of that, Qashqai sits lower than its predecessor and Nissan says that both headroom and legroom are improved.

2019 Nissan Qashqai interior features and safety

Perhaps the strongest point of the 2019 Nissan Qashqai is its active and passive safety technology. All of the safety amenities are actually a part of the Nissan’s Safety Shield. That includes traffic sign recognition, driver attention alert, and forward emergency braking. An intelligent park assist is in the offer as well, along with the standard blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and much more systems.

The interior of the 2019 Nissan Qashqai is very customizable and the customers can choose various automatic settings like the time when the headlights will turn on. All that is available thanks to the meter display that is placed in the gauge cluster. You can control this display via the buttons on the steering wheel.

Exterior dimension changes mean more interior space. With that in mind, the trunk space is larger by 0.7 cubic foot. The passengers will benefit from the dimensional increase as well. Both headroom and legroom are improved and comfort is better too. The seats get a slight redesign and additional bolsters. Ambient lighting is available in the orange color and every segment of the lighting is controlled by the driver.

2019 Nissan Qashqai TI

The forthcoming 2019 Nissan Qashqai TI is the top-range model. It will replace the previous N-Tec “Limited edition”. This model offers more aggressive and sportier exterior design. On top of that, the cabin is so luxurious and upscale, that is hard to compete with. The TI variant will use a 2.0-liter petrol engine that can produce 142 HP and 147 lb-ft of torque.

While not that powerful, the ride is extremely quiet and smooth. The CVT transmission is the only transmission in the offer and the all-wheel-drive setup comes as standard. The price of the new 2019 Qashqai TI starts at $10,000 more than the base model.

2019 Nissan Qashqai engine variants

The upcoming 2019 Nissan Qashqai comes with a few engine options. There is three of them to be more precise, two gasoline and single diesel drivetrain. All of the engines are turbocharged and the CO2 emission is lower than ever. The fuel consumption is better than on the previous models and most importantly, the performance is the same, if not even better. Furthermore, all three units are available with the start/stop ignition system and with both front and all-wheel-drive configurations. The customers can choose between the 6-speed manual and latest XTronic automatic transmission.

The standard engine is a 1.2-liter DIG-T gasoline that generates 113 HP and 140 lb-ft of torque. This output comes with the fuel economy that is set at 50.4 mpg. The optional gasoline unit is the 1.6-liter DIG-T that can burst 147 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque. It is the most powerful engine in the lineup when it comes to the horsepower, however, the diesel output offers more torque. While the optional drivetrain brings more power than the standard one, the economy is identical.

The only diesel choice is a 1.6-liter dCi with 128 HP and 236 lb-ft of torque. This engine is compact and lighter than the gasoline options. Additionally, it features a gas recirculation system that lowers the emissions of the C02 and nitrogen. The mileage is set at 64.2 mpg.
