The forthcoming 2019 Nissan Pathfinder is a 3-row SUV that has it all. Roomy and comfortable from the inside, aggressive and mean from the outside. Powerful V6 engine with the all-wheel-drive setup is working wonders for the Pathfinder. Four trims are in the offer and the price is affordable. Main competitors are Ford Explorer, Chevy Traverse, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and VW Atlas.
The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder comes with minor improvements, better safety rating, and more power. Apart from that, the rest of the vehicle will stay intact. Nissan had problems in the past by updating its vehicles. For example, previous generations lasted for almost ten years and the vehicle was getting old. Now, Pathfinder runs on its fourth-gen that is present since 2013.
2019 Nissan Pathfinder exterior will get a minor changes
After the last year’s revamped, the changes on the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder are minor. A slight front end refreshment and some new lines and curves are present. However, the shape will stay intact and the SUV will now look even more attractive than before. Up front, a V-Motion grille made of chrome gives new Pathfinder younger look. The grille now looks smooth and eye-pleasing. Headlight units are the same as on the previous models and the fog lights are placed slightly higher.
The air dam looks narrower and the hood looks sharper as it holds new creases. While the front part got some improvements, the side profile is basically the same. The only innovation is the new side view mirrors. Those mirrors are now sleeker and a little bit shorter. The rear end got the new lenses for the reverse light and the rear fascia is redesigned.
The power tailgate is standard on higher trims and is motion-activated. That means you can open your tailgate by the swipe of a foot below the rear bumper. The roof comes with functional rails and optional dual-panel moonroof.
2019 Nissan Pathfinder infotainment system is updated
The interior of the all-new 2019 Nissan Pathfinder will remain simple and functional as before. The changes are minor and there is no need for them. The cabin can accommodate up to seven passengers across the three rows. First two rows are offering a generous legroom, and the third row is not recommendable for adults. The dashboard looks smooth and the seats with the contrast stitching are looking gorgeous. Center console will stay intact, however, cup holders are now in the offer.
The gear shifter and all of the controls will remain. Moreover, the layout is exactly the same as well. A slight increase of the chrome and wood trims is barely visible. The infotainment system is updated and the 8-inch touchscreen is looking brilliant. This user-friendly touchscreen is easy to operate with and it supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moreover, SiriusXM radio is standard, along with the Bluetooth.
Platinum trim
A Nissan Connect navigation is optional on starting trims and standard on the higher trims such as Platinum. Of course, voice recognition is available with this navigation. Speaking of Platinum trim, it adds a Family Entertainment Package that comes with the HDMI input and two 8-inch monitors. This package is perfect for the rear passengers. The comfort is great, however, leather upholstery is optional.
2019 Nissan Pathfinder will get a powerful and efficient V6 engine
Of course, everyone likes to hear that the new drivetrain is in the lineup, however, this time that isn’t the case. The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder will still run on the same engine as the previous models. This is not a bad thing as the 3.5-liter V6 engine is powerful and efficient. Yes, many of the customers would like to see a diesel engine in the offer, but that is not happening yet.
On the other hand, this V6 is capable of producing up to 284 HP and 259 lb-ft of torque. That is the slight increase in horses and twists and that is not everything. This unit comes with various systems such as direct injection, electronic control module, and the air intake system. Moreover, new mirror bore cylinder coating is available, along with the new pistons. Even better, the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder will use an Xtronic CVT automatic transmission. A regular part of the updates is new chassis and new suspension system too.
Towing capacity and fuel economy
Thanks to all of the updates, the new 2019 Nissan Pathfinder can now tow up to 6,000 pounds. The suspension now comes with new shocks and new springs. Generally, the ride is smoother and quieter than on the previous models.
Front-wheel drive setup is standard, but you can opt for the optional all-wheel-drive configuration. Fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway with the standard FWD. Fuel economy with the AWD system is slightly lower.
2019 Nissan Pathfinder price and release date
The upcoming 2019 Nissan Pathfinder comes in four trim levels. Starting price for the base SV model is around $35,000. Range-topping Platinum models will cost slightly over $50,000. Of course, AWD cost an additional $1,800.
The prices are in line with the rest of the competitors such as the Toyota Highlander. This SUV will hit the markets most likely before the start of 2019.
