The all-new 2019 BMW X1 is a crossover SUV that is smaller than its X siblings, however, this model is equally powerful and capable. X1 offers a combination of great performance and smooth ride. Moreover, new BMW’s model offers an all-wheel-drive configuration and even the base trim is well-equipped. The ride height is taller than before and the safety rating is high.
The 2019 BMW X1 arrives with a single engine option that is available with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The German carmaker prefers to call it an SAV instead of SUV, which stands for Sports Activity Vehicle. More affordable than larger X5, the BMW X1 looks less bulky but equally sophisticated and modern. The upcoming model will get more standard and optional equipment and a new trim level.
2019 BMW X1 facelift
While the rest of the X lineup looks rugged, the forthcoming 2019 BMW X1 looks subtle and stylish. Maneuvering this crossover SUV is easy thanks to its smaller dimensions. On the other hand, cargo capacity is the best in the segment. Sadly, no exterior changes will happen with the new model as everything will stay intact. That is not such a bad thing as the X1 already looks gorgeous. The design includes a sporty front end with the narrow headlights and kidney grille.
The character lines are beautiful and creases are on another level. Thanks to that, this crossover looks muscular and the stance is very athletic. The headlights are equipped with LED units and turning in the same way as the steering wheel. BMW says that there will be up to 11 exterior colors in the offer and nine of eleven colors are metallic. Latest color is a Sunset Orange Metallic and it looks stunning. Moreover, the X1 comes with a taller ride height for a total 7.2 inches of ground clearance.
M Sport package
The aerodynamics of the new model is great and you can opt for the model 2019 BMW X1 M Sport Package that boosts the aerodynamics even more. The package adds sports suspension and the high-gloss roof rails. Higher trim levels are coming with the power rear liftgate. This lift is easy to activate as all you have to do is to put your foot under the rear bumper.
2019 BMW X1 interior gets soft-touch materials
The upcoming 2019 BMW X1 offers five seats across the two rows. The room inside the cabin is ample, that includes headroom, legroom and even cargo room. Rear legroom is among the best-in-class, and optional sliding rear seats that are also reclining are a must-buy. The front seats are power-adjustable and are very comfortable. The dashboard looks sleek and is angular than before.
All of the materials inside the cabin are upscale. Soft-touch materials are in the offer and plenty of wood accents that are providing a luxurious feeling. If you want even more luxury, opt for some of the higher trims as you can get heating and ventilating seats and a panoramic moonroof.
Amenities options
Leather interior is optional, just like the 12-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system. Also, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optional. Apple CarPlay provides the access to iTunes music, Siri, maps and even text messages. Even the base model comes with plenty of standard amenities such as auto climate control, rearview monitor and push-button start. Plenty of USB inputs are in the offer, just like a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and audio streaming.
2019 BMW X1 engine, acceleration and fuel economy
The only engine that will power the upcoming 2019 BMW X1 is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit. This turbocharged output is capable of producing up to 228 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to such a great power, X1 reaches from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. Fuel economy is rated at 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway with a front-wheel-drive setup. An all-wheel-drive setup is optional and it provides the mileage that is set at 22/31 mpg.
This driving configuration feels smooth and better than the standard four-wheel drive configuration. An 8-speed Aisin automatic gearbox is the only transmission choice. A start/stop system is available in 2019 BMW X1 and it shuts off the engine at idle. In that way, fuel economy is even better. While the 2019 X1 can run on a regular gasoline, a Premium gasoline is recommended.
Generally, this 2019 BMW X1 is fun-to-drive as it feels quiet and pleasant. If you are a fan of pushing your cars to the limits, X1 won’t get you anywhere. However, if you opt for the M Sport suspension package, the limits are infinite. Moreover, with the right sets of tires, even the off-road adventures are on the cards.
